VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

St Luke’s College of Health Sciences, which was established in 1972, is one of the training institutions under Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM).   The College is situated in Malosa, Zomba under the Proprietorship of the Anglican Diocese of Upper Shire (ADUS).   The College therefore invites applications from qualified candidates from Central and Southern Region to fill the vacant post as stated below:

POSITION                   : Clinical Preceptors (Part-time)

RESPONSIBLE TO       : Head of Clinical Department

LOCATION                  : District Hospital/Health Centre (where currently resident)

QUALIFICATIONS      : Degree or Diploma in Nursing in Nursing and Midwifery (RN)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Introduce students to the clinical environment, clinical policies, and procedures
  2.  Establish clear learning goals and outcomes for the students’ clinical experience.
  3. Provide direct supervision and guidance during patient care activities.
  4. Offer regular, constructive feedback on students’ performance, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
  5.  Assess students’ clinical skills, knowledge, and professionalism.
  6. Teach and demonstrate clinical skills, such as history-taking, physical examination, and procedural skills.
  7. Ensure students understand and adhere to patient safety protocols and procedures.
  8. Fostering Professional Development: Encourage students to develop their professional identity, including communication, teamwork, and time management skills.
  9. Maintain accurate records of students’ progress, including evaluations and feedback.
  10.  Collaborate with faculty members to ensure students meet academic and clinical requirements.
  11. Any other duty assigned from time to time

IMPORTANT

  • Candidates should indicate the health facility where he/she is currently working
  • Successful candidates shall be required to assist students in the clinical setting at their work station and at health facilities close to their work station
  • Candidates should have less than two (2) years of graduate clinical working experience
  • Successful candidates shall be required to work with students during their free time
