St Luke’s College of Nursing and Midwifery Library was officially opened in August 2004. The structure was constructed through the philanthropic initiative of Norwegian Church Aid. The building which was designed to serve the needs of the then nursing community is slowly transforming into an information hub where not only students and tutors will access information but also clinical staff and other users around the community.
At the center of its activities, the Library’s vision is to have in place a conducive environment appropriate to providing an efficient, timely and user-tailored service.
Mission
Our Mission is to provide ready and efficient physical and bibliographic access to information consistent with the teaching and research interests of the academic departments and the learning needs of St Luke’s students.
The Library supports all subject areas taught by the College at Diploma level. In addition, the Library provides its members with a large number of services and resources, including electronic resources. Owing to its status as a the only Library around Malosa, the College Library facilities may also be used for computer training and Internet access by members of the public on whatever terms and conditions the college management deems necessary.
It has often been said that a Library is the heart of any institution of higher learning. This is certainly the case at St Luke’s College. The Library therefore is striving to make initiatives that can transform teaching and learning activities. Recently, the college has assumed a coordinating role for all Christian Health Association of Malawi Libraries.
The Office of the Librarian is tasked to set policy and to direct and support programs and activities to accomplish the Library’s mission.
