The St. Luke’s College of Health Sciences Strategic Plan 2023–2028 provides a clear roadmap for the College’s growth and development following the successful completion of the 2017–2022 Strategic Plan. Building on the achievements and lessons learned from the previous plan, this five-year strategy sets out the College’s priorities for strengthening institutional capacity and advancing excellence across all areas of operation.
The Strategic Plan is designed to enhance the quality and impact of the College’s training, consultancy, research and related services, while promoting financial sustainability, institutional learning and continuous growth. It also provides a framework for responding effectively to emerging challenges and opportunities within the higher education and health sectors.
Aligned with National and Global Priorities
The Strategic Plan is aligned with Malawi 2063 (MW2063), the Malawi First 10-Year Implementation Plan (MIP-1), relevant national policies and emerging global trends in health education and development.
Through a Results-Based Framework, the Plan brings together the College’s vision, mission, core values, strategic outcomes, targets and key activities into a coherent direction for institutional transformation and sustainable development.
A Participatory and Consultative Process
The development of the Strategic Plan followed a broad, consultative and participatory approach. This included an in-depth review of relevant documents, diagnostic workshops and interviews with key stakeholders.
Consultations involved the Anglican Diocese of Upper Shire (ADUS), Christian Association of Malawi (CHAM), the College Board, Management, staff, faculty and students, among other stakeholders.
A PESTEL/SCOT analysis was also conducted to assess the College’s internal and external environment. These processes helped identify the strategic needs, challenges, opportunities, threats, strengths and weaknesses that informed the development of the College’s strategic pillars, outcomes, activities and targets.
